Phenanthrene is a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) composed of three fused benzene rings which takes its name from the two terms 'phenyl' and 'anthracene.' It has a role as an environmental contaminant and a mouse metabolite. Phenanthrene induces oxidative stress and inflammation.
