Amphotericin B is the most effective drug for treating many life-threatening fungal infections.Amphotericin B is a polyene antifungal agent against a wide variety of fungal pathogens. It binds irreversibly to ergosterol, resulting in disruption of membrane integrity and ultimately cell death.
