Anthramycin , an antitumour antibiotic produced by Streptomyces refuineus, belongs to the pyrrolo (1,4) benzodiazepine antibiotic group. Anthramycin within this group are potent inhibitors of nucleic acid synthesis because of their ability to form a labile covalent adduct with DNA.
