Description:DNA Alkylator
Irofulven is a natural toxin isolated from the fungus Omphalotus illudens. Irofulven is a DNA damaging agent and antineoplastic agent used to treat advanced solid tumors, including prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, and pancreatic cancer. Irofulven alkylates DNA and protein macromolecules to form adducts and keep cells in the S phase of the cell cycle. The agent needs to undergo NADPH-dependent metabolism through alkenal/an oxidoreductase to be active.
