It is a coenzyme I: Coenzyme Q oxidoreductase inhibitor produced by fungus Pterula SP.82168. The antibacterial activity of Pterulinic acid was stronger than that of Pterulone, both of which had no antibacterial effect. The IC50 (μg/mL) L1210 and HL60 of Pterulinic acid to mammalian cell lines were 50 and 20 respectively. HeLaS3 25; BHK is 100, and Pterulone is more than 100 for these details.
